Who issues Business Tax Receipts in West Melbourne?
West Melbourne's Finance Director serves as the Business Tax Receipt Official, and renewals must be paid by September 30 to avoid penalties.
The West Melbourne City Manager has designated the Finance Director as the Business Tax Receipt Official, responsible for applications, renewals and the receipt database. The city offers separate applications for general businesses, rentals and vacation rentals.
The application asks for the opening date, number of employees, federal tax or Social Security number and the nature of the business. A business using a name other than the owner's first and last name must submit a copy of its state fictitious name registration, and corporations submit their Articles of Incorporation.
Renewals can be paid online and must be received by September 30 to avoid penalties, consistent with section 205.053, Florida Statutes. A county receipt from the Brevard County Tax Collector is also required.
