What does a Viera business need for a Business Tax Receipt?
Because Viera is unincorporated, a Viera business obtains only the Brevard County receipt, along with a county Zoning Use permit reviewed before approval.
Brevard County levies a business tax for engaging in business within the county, and the Brevard County Tax Collector issues the receipts. A business in an unincorporated area such as Viera checks with County Zoning, Environmental Health Services and Development Services before applying.
The Tax Collector's unincorporated area instructions call for a Business Tax Receipt application and a Zoning Use permit application. The business also provides proof of ownership, a lease or an owner authorization form for the location.
Businesses in commercial or industrial areas are subject to a Building Occupancy Review, and as of October 2026 some business types owe a $50.00 Hazardous Waste Surcharge. The applicant waits to pay until the application is approved and the total is set.
