When must a flood damaged Titusville home meet current standards?
A Titusville home with flood damage above half its value has to be repaired to current building and floodplain standards, not just patched.
According to the City of Titusville's Floodplain Management page, homes damaged beyond 50% of their value must meet current building and floodplain standards when repaired. The city advises getting permits before building and using only licensed contractors.
Titusville takes part in the National Flood Insurance Program, so residents can buy federally backed flood insurance. Premiums depend on whether the property is high risk or moderate to low risk.
Buyers of homes in flood prone areas can check the flood zone and any past damage before closing.
