Are veterans exempt from the Satellite Beach business tax?
Honorably discharged veterans and their spouses can claim an exemption from the Satellite Beach business tax and its fees under a state law the city reprints.
The Satellite Beach Business Tax Receipts page reprints section 205.055, Florida Statutes, which exempts certain people from local business taxes and related fees. Covered persons include an honorably discharged veteran and the spouse or unremarried surviving spouse of such a veteran.
The exemption also reaches the spouse of an active duty servicemember who relocated under a permanent change of station order, and people receiving public assistance. The applicant signs a Request for Fee Exemption under penalty of perjury with supporting documents, and a business qualifies when an exempt person owns a majority interest and it has fewer than 100 employees.
