How does a rezoning request work in Rockledge?
A Rockledge rezoning starts with the Planning Division and moves through public review, with the Planning Commission advising the City Council.
The Rockledge Planning Division processes rezoning applications along with annexations and site plans. Zoning sets land use classifications and dimensional standards such as setbacks, height limits, minimum lot sizes and lot coverage.
The Planning Commission serves as the city's local planning agency under Chapter 163, Florida Statutes. It reviews proposed land development regulations and amendments and makes recommendations to the City Council.
Under section 166.033, Florida Statutes, cities of 10,000 or more residents must offer a development preapplication consultation program by January 1, 2027. An applicant who does not use that program is entitled to a written statement of the minimum information required for a rezoning application.
