How does a business get a Business Tax Receipt in Rockledge?
Rockledge issues Business Tax Receipts for commercial and home businesses through its Building Department, and the city is moving applications to SmartGOV.
Businesses operating in Rockledge must obtain a Business Tax Receipt, formerly called an Occupational License. Receipts for commercial and home occupations are issued by the Building Department, and the requirement also covers solicitors and canvassers in the city.
The city's page says applications can be requested by email or picked up at City Hall, 1600 Huntington Lane. It also announces that SmartGOV from Granicus will handle business tax receipts, and that paper applications will no longer be accepted once SmartGOV is live.
A county receipt from the Brevard County Tax Collector is also required, and under section 205.053, Florida Statutes, receipts are due by September 30 each year.
