How does a business get a Business Tax Receipt in Palm Bay?
Palm Bay businesses apply for a city Business Tax Receipt through the iMS online portal, then obtain a separate Brevard County receipt from the Tax Collector.
The City of Palm Bay issues Business Tax Receipts under Chapter 110 of its Code of Ordinances, and applications are submitted online through the city's iMS portal. The city asks applicants to allow 10 to 14 business days for processing.
Anyone licensed by the State of Florida or certified by Brevard County must include copies of those licenses. Since July 1, 2017, a business that uses a fictitious name must also submit its Fictitious Name Registration when applying or renewing.
After the city receipt is issued, the business applies for a county receipt with the Brevard County Tax Collector. Under section 205.053, Florida Statutes, receipts are due by September 30 each year.
