How does Senate Bill 264 affect the purchase of agricultural land?
Section 5 of the bill prohibits foreign principals from purchasing agricultural land in Florida. Buyers must provide a signed affidavit that they are not a foreign principal. Existing foreign owners of agricultural land, as of July 1, 2023, can continue to own it but must register with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS) by January 1, 2024.
