How does a business get a Business Tax Receipt in Cocoa Beach?
Cocoa Beach businesses apply online through OpenGov for a city Business Tax Receipt, and every commercial location also needs a Certificate of Use.
Cocoa Beach requires a Business Tax Receipt, also called an Occupational License, for anyone offering goods or services to the public in the city. A separate receipt is needed for each place of business, whether commercial or residential.
Applications are filed online through OpenGov, and a non-refundable $10 application fee applies to original applications as of October 2026. The application asks for the fictitious name registration or articles of incorporation, state license numbers and, for lodging, the hotel or motel license number and unit count.
A Certificate of Use is required for all commercial locations. Under section 205.053, Florida Statutes, receipts are due by September 30 each year.
